Have you ever read one of those Facebook posts about the peculiar traits of people from Michigan? You know, like you are from Michigan if you say pop instead of soda, or you are from Michigan if your vacation is always going up north, etc. I love reading those types of things because I find them familiar and also humorous. It's good to laugh. So after reading one of those I thought, there are some particular traits of artists too, don't you think? I came up with these things that are peculiar to artists, or at least they are my habits! Read on and see if any of these resonate with you...
You know you are an artist if...
It is common for you to dip your paint brush into your coffee.
You go into the grocery store or some other store and at the check out realize that your
hands are covered with multi colors of paint. Someone might even ask you "what is
that on your face?"
A most exciting day for you is going into stores like Hobby Lobby and Michaels; you
are like a kid in a candy store.
You drop your kneadable eraser on the floor and everything sticks to it.
You spend a long time on a calligraphy piece and then realize you misspelled
a word.
You spends hours on a painting, and then end up hating it.
When you are in the doctor or dentist office and everyone else in the waiting room
is scrolling on their phone, you are drawing in your purse size sketchbook.
You can look through one of your sketchbooks and know exactly what was going
on in your life when you created that sketch or painting.
After you had a "bad" day you look back and realize that you missed your art time.
In high school you doodled all over your math papers.
You have art materials all over the house, not just in your studio space.
Do any of these resonate with you? If so, you are probably a creative like me! (remember, everyone has the ability to be creative). But I also bet you could add more to this list. Share if you dare!
