You CAN paint this: A Simple Fall Gnome

Painting doesn’t have to be complicated to be fun.
I recently found this adorable wooden gnome at Hobby Lobby. It’s only about 1/4-inch thick, and about ten inches tall. And the best part? All of the details are already drawn on for you! (Plus it was on sale!) All I had to do was grab my acrylic paints and start painting.
That being said, I chose to use my acrylic paint pens (I buy them on Amazon) for some of the smaller detail work. Acrylic paint pens can be a life saver for that sort of thing.
If you are apprehensive about painting, this would be a great starter project for you. It's also a fun project for the more experienced painter, because there is so much room for creativity. A small hole at the top with some twine provides a way to hang it on your wall. I recently painted this with a group of senior citizens and they loved it. As a finishing touch, they chose to add a raffia bow and sunflower with a glue gun (see the picture).
Sometimes we look at ourselves and think, “I could never do that. I’m not talented enough. I wouldn’t know where to begin.” But God doesn’t ask us to have everything figured out before He can use us. He takes ordinary people, gives us what we need, and helps us create something beautiful with what He has placed in our hands.
You don't have to be an artist to create something beautiful. You just have to be willing to pick up the brush and begin. Perfect. Simple. And so much fun!
So if you’ve been telling yourself that you “can’t paint,” maybe this little gnome is your sign to give it a try. Or seek out some of the other wood shapes you might find at Hobby Lobby or your favorite go to for inspiration.
From my easel to yours,
Happy painting!
Vicky
