What I did over Labor Day weekend

See these blocks of wood? They are pieces of two by fours, cut up by my husband, and gotten from my son's house. My son was going to throw them away, they were scraps from a larger project. My husband knows I collect wood scraps to paint on, so he scooped them up for me. So on Saturday, my daughter came over and she painted on a canvas while I painted these wood scraps hoping to transform them into some home decor. My goal was to create an easy project for a a church group. A few days earlier, a lady from a local church called me and wanted to finally (they hadn't gathered since covid) have a fun afternoon with her ladies' group. She asked if we could do something different, a little "crafty" but not too hard. Since I had already been thinking about these two by fours, I told her I would work on something over the weekend and get back with her. So the above picture is what I came up with. Now, I must be honest, these are not my original ideas, I "borrowed" these ideas from Pinterest. (That's what Pinterest is for, right!) I did, however, add my own finishing touches. It was a lot of fun and so easy to do. I will send her a picture today and see what she says.
So that's what I did on Saturday. Friday, the first day of the weekend, my husband and I
took his truck up to East Tawas to pick up a (pre owned) trailer we bought the week before. We have a fifth wheel, but it's way too large and we need to downsize, plus it's older and is starting to show its wear. Anyway, the thought occurred to us to camp somewhere in East Tawas with the new trailer. What better way to spend the weekend? Alas, do I need to remind myself that it was a HOLIDAY WEEKEND! Enough said, there were no spots in any campground for miles around. Duh! Oh well, I got to spend almost a whole day in East Tawas, my happy place. It was a beautiful day!
The rest of the weekend was a smattering of activities, from getting my art supplies and lesson plans ready for school, to cooking meals for my son and grandson, and visiting him over at his new house. So even though I didn't head up north with all the rest of the Michiganders (I hope they all had fun!) I still had a great weekend. A weekend for me is great when at some point I get to create something, and also spend time with my family.
So are you one of those who went north? If so, I hope you had an amazing weekend!
We have such an awesome state, who else can go north on the weekends for a quick get a way? Who else has lakes, lakes, and more lakes, plus an amazing suspension bridge?!
Now go and create something!
